Anytone 6666 pro - CPS205 **MAJOR BUG**

Post by bigbloke »

Hi All

I've started a separate thread on this after setting one of these up for my mate.

In my view this is a bigger cock-up by anytone that the dual watch issue I previously
reported and if you are not careful you can lose memory banks M,N and O

I can confirm the description below applies to the 6666PRO when using firmware 101 and
its associated CPS V205

In short - the only "safe" way to use CPS205 is to:

* read from the radio;
* make your edits;
* write straight back to the radio.

When you start CPS205 from scratch banks M,N and O are missing:

If you write to the radio without first reading , those banks are gone,
you need another radio to read from and write out to put them back!

Read from the radio, banks M, N, and O are back:

if you then:

* save that codeplug to disk
* File -> New
* File -> Open <saved codeplug name>

Banks M, N and O are still there.

But if you close CPS 205, restart it , then reload the codeplug - banks M,N and O are gone!
Write that to the radio, and unless you have another unaffected radio running firmware 101,
banks M,N and O are gone completely - requiring another unaffected V101 radio to read and write from to
get them back
.

I can confirm this is the case on 3 PCs, 2 running windows 10 PRO and another running windows 11

Thanks to my 4X4 loving mate Tony and another mate Glen (you know who you are) who put their radios
at risk to help me prove this was the case, for the good of the radio community!

I dont know if radioddity have rolled out firmware 101 onto their QT80 product but CPS 205 is full of bugs and should
be treated with the utmost care.

be careful with your codeplugs guys!

regards

Thanks for the information.

Hopefully they'll fix this problem in a future update.

Howay Delboy!

Long time no type since we met many years ago at the Leicester rally!

Ive posted the link to the article in a few places and have seen others starting to
copy the link to reddit and Youtube so hopefully word spreads and no one loses
120 memory channels in their radios!

I have also emailled Ken Xu at Anytone - he hasnt replied to my previous mail
so I doubt I will get a response back to this one either ! <sigh>

Hope you and yours keeping well

Regards
