No more updates really
Gateway up in England working fine now.
The pre-production testers are on hold at moment.
We got a updated interface board to test.
A onsite phase shift qrm noise floor remover being looked at.
Vehicle VoIP rf gateway box too look at some point.
Other life priorities need to be finished,so put project on hold for now.
Once we got green light get back onto it
Hopefully by 2024 they'll be more new CB radios having ctcss function.
As we finding test site suffers variable noise floors day and night lifts Squelch on gateway.
I'd prefer we go full ctcss and problem goes away ,but till more CB users start using ctcss
Locally near gateway ,have to stay on CSQ for now.
TSQ is the way forward,we have conducts ctcss tests on cb band and to be far it's a game changer no qrm heard,no noise bursts ,no foreign traffic so as a VoIP base ctcss is ultimately way to do it on VoIP.

Finalised pcb with latest UKCA CE RoHs logos,it should now support Dual-Mode Voip gateway and Repeater mode via 2- softwares used(W.I.P)
Awaiting new workshop to go ahead so can start building new base racks prob mid year 2024.
Meanwell 12Amp 13.2V DC SMP is clean for radio uses and includes AC lime EMI filter EU\UK approved Certified in a 2U rack case.
24bit sound card USB C with phone app connectivity tested.
Mini PC tested for power ratings and performance tests completed.
New APC UPS backup AC power testing to be checked.
Base antenna,mast height optimisation height for LOS use & feeder systems completed tests
CTCSS+FM testing on going with mobiles and HTs ,looks good so far channels lot quieter using sub tones system.
NEW Radios 2024 will also be tested on system either as a base radio or a mobile unit once available for burn testing purposes.

PCB Radio Interface going through some updates currently.
New CB radios out now like radioddity cb-500,President George 2,Ares II ctcss in them including split sub tones.
So that's good news more ctcss enabled radios the better.
Been testing some new mini pc win 11 see what duty cycles and power rating as required low power consumption.
See how they work out for fixed bases.
PSU seem nice and clean and radio friendly so that's a pass

I’ve done a remote “head over IP” with a CB. Two Raspberry Pis with USB sound cards, COS from the squelch LED into an opto to GPIO, PTT on a transistor/opto the other way. I only remoted channel and squelch: read the rotary/pot with an MCP3008 and sent states over a small Python socket, watchdogs drop PTT if heartbeats die, plus radio TOT. Wired ethernet was key, WiFi added jitter. For audio I skipped Zello/VOX and ran a tiny SIP softphone on each Pi, routing both ways through https://telxi.com. Worked well and kept NAT simple.

CB radios finally have TSQ & NRC
So first tick box
New PCB updated for interfacing
Improved RFI shielding now implemented with components in tin boxes mounted onto 19inch shelve racks.
Antenna system now finally optimised and working LOS with least amount of QRM.
Galvanic RF Isolator now added to Ariel feeder for improved noise floor.
Upgraded feeder coax To F1/Messi double screened with foil outer to reduce localised induced noisy buildings,that's fixed lot of noise issues.
Reduced gain 1/4 plane.
New radios:AT5279N2 4/30/65W & CRT Alpha N 4/20W
New metal rack 19" inch open shelves
DC UPS for uninterruptible power supply with 32A PSU and 20A float charger,42Ahr battery.
MK2 being built now.
Repeater & VoIP gateway mode option.

I use selfhosted mumble server with special selvf made "mumble client" running on raspberrypi3 the ptt is done using usb serieal port on pc, but on raspberrypi the GPIO pins can be used to handle the PTT of the radio.
Alot of solutions are made for FM mode where the radio make a COS (Carrier on Signal) to activate PTT on mumble - some HAM radio does provide a COS signal while must CB radios does not so to handle this I have two options: VAD (Voice activation Detection) or if the radiolink client is used with a Radio running ssb it just switch to TX/PTT of the radio when somebody else is speaking on the radio. it's almost like a FRN solution just more standalone - you can add your mumble server with a tag like FMRN for Free Mumble Radio Network and make it visible on the public mumble server network or keep it private.
You also need to make surre only users with permission are using the radio and you can use your radio using computers, android devices like poc radio also. we have a few radiolinks running some of the are on ssb and some of them can switch mode between FM and ssb using the memory configuration and the up/down chanal keys.
I have played with boots that can reply with audio/speak and ask for modulation report with trigger words just for fun not a parrot solution that just make noise - ctss is possible or dtmf but not alot cb radio provide this.
More radios can be connected both cb and ham - the mumble admin just need to make sure the radio does have the needed licens if acces to ham bands is possible.
Known mumble radio client is talkkonnect but I have made my own setup using pymumle2.0.0 python.
Users are old cb operators that can setup a good antenne but they can now enjoy use qso on fm or ssb via the mumla client for android and some of them even dust of the old radio and return to the air via real antenna's infact we have a local cb club that are growning because its more easy to make other people become part of the hobby this way also, while some prefer the old non digital ways radio to radio they can use it while on holidays etc.
