Kestrel Calypso Antenna question

Post by Hair Bear »

Hi,
Just got a new/old stock Kestrel Calypso Center load antenna. I'm curious to know if anyone can explain why the top whip section has a red band and a black band on it. I'm sure I've seen similar before but can't remember the reasoning.
Thanks.

Thanks, I was thinking red band for fm, black for am, or visaversa - over thinking as usual!
Cheers.

Red for UK, black for CEPT.

Be interesting to hear how well that antenna gets out.

I'll let you know how I get on. Just at the moment, it's a smidge warm for faffing around on a car roof!

Yeah, it's been grim. The last place anyone wants to be these last few days is inside a superheated can on wheels.
