I have never used a radio with this system, but used to have 'pips' transmit though mine at work if a fire alarm was sounded, and we had about a minute to respond and possibly give an all clear or evacuate message.

Our local ICI has a voice alarm, and somewhere in Dumfries or there abouts, I heard one on 166.7625, the same frequency I used to use in Irvine. No one seemed to know where it was coming from.
