I have so much crap, err radio's hanging around the place I thought why not chuck one in the car so i grabbed a Cobra 148 and fitted it into my little rust bucket (cheap 05 plate Fiesta I just use for getting to work and the odd spot of dogging) with a magmount and a 4 foot dial-a-match with a useable swaaaaaar. Car looks like a bumper car now

I know the dial-a-match aint the best but I dont want to stand out too much, I do have a 7 foot Firestik but errr no. 555 on the way home is a lot more interesting than the **** on the radio

Yeah radio 1 is a load of crap.
In my 406 I had a stag 357 in the car mounted on the side of the transmission tunnel

I listen to little FM now, bar R4. BBC Tees is ok, they have that North East cheeriness.

I've usually got a PMR handy clipped to the air vent when out and about. Now and again I can hear a bit of action and sometimes park up and join in. I tend to save CB for special trips out to high spots or my nearest CB users.

One of the best reasons to go mobile is to get away out into the countryside to get away from the constant levels of electrical noise that you get in urban areas now. Of course modern cars are stuffed with 'always on' digital systems now as well so you may, after all that, have to get out of the car and go portable...

Yeah, I have a rather portable setup - a Thunderpole TX, mobile twigs and a self-built T2LT. Hash is generally not too bad at my place, though sometimes something gets switched on that shoves the hash up to S5. I can't reach anyone else from my QTH, skip aside, anyway so I have to drive out regardless.
