How time flies.

I can remember the legalization of AM and ssb thread which created a lot of banter and conspiracy too.
I bet there isn't many folk just stuck with the legal 80ch rig's.

So this Saturday I will be on trying to get some ground wave contacts.

13 years of legal AM and SSB? It only feels like yesterday, Scary.

Pretty sure it is just 12 years, but still seems like yesterday.

Having said that it doesn't seem to have made much difference, UK FM still used mostly, T5 used a fair bit for SSB and virtually nothing on mids around here.

I think some taxis are on mids around here.

Sorry for the newbie query, but "mids"?

Mids = Mid band, it was the original US AM frequency which was adopted for use in the UK on FM in 1987, but has since allowed the use of AM and SSB.

Mids or Mid Band means the original American Forty AM CB channels, adopted by the EU and latterly us 26·965 to 27·405MHz.
Low band ends at 26·955 and goes down 40 channels. High starts at 27·415 and goes up 40.
Then similarly Super low, and Super High going up into the 10m Amateur band which starts at 28MHz.

Each band has five channels missed out in its lower half, reserved for radio controlled models at the time even though there's no need if you go illegal (anywhere) ouside Mid band.

Thanks guys. I've just been listening to a German DX (that was on the FM). A very strong signal. I've not been scanning this freq before today.
