Midland 4001 LED display

Post by dodgeyvanner »

Hi
Hope someone can help, a digit packed up on the led display on my ukfm midland 4001 so removed the standard green one in there with 22P stamped on the back.
Have got some green illumination KEM-4021-BSG LED's as replacements. I fitted one but then didn't seen to have any power and it didnt light up? Had pins 4&5 (COM) connected to the volume control 13.5v (is that wrong) should it go to the dim / bright switch instead. I cant remember where the com wire was fitted too! I need to make better notes when doing things - lesson learnt!!!

Also, LED arrays are available as common anode and common cathode. You can't replace one type with another. Did you replace like-for-like?

Pretty certain you shouldn't have 13.5 volts on the volume control. The Dim / bright switch sounds correct to me. EDIT the KEM-4021-BSG LED's are common Anode (Positive) According to mr google. The one you removed (22P) is also common anode (I think) The ''P'' Donates positive. So they should be like for like..
