Is there a fully functioning 2/70 radio without a mike ?

Post by KILLERPARSNIP »

Hello all,

At present I use a Baofeng UV5R as a mobile with a home brew hands free setup but does anyone know of a mobile 2/70cms radio which remains fully functioning with out the mike connected ? I do have a Yaesu again with a home brew hands free but it loses most of it's functions as soon as you remove the mike rendering it pretty useless whilst out mobile other than locally !

The Anytones - 578 / 878 / 890 etc - do, as well as being able to connect with Bluetooth to a BT headset and a BT remote PTT - The former you supply yourself, the latter comes with the radio and is a small USB charged button with elasticated Velcro straps that you can fit to, say the gear lever.

As well as that, they will do DMR, which ticks a box that you mention you are considering in another thread.
