Hello from a new member - radio and a bit of Python

Post by MartinHale42 »

Hi everyone,

Long-time lurker, finally got round to registering. I'm mostly into SDR and a bit of shortwave listening, but my other hobby is tinkering with Python in the evenings.

Over the winter I built a little side project to keep my coding sharp - an Elo-style rating system for tennis players that I feed with ATP and WTA results. I ended up calling it phantomtennis. It's purely a stats experiment (nothing to do with betting), I just enjoy seeing how a rating model copes with different court surfaces and form streaks.

Anyway, glad to be here and looking forward to digging through the SDR and scanning threads. 73!

It's nice to see a new member, and welcome.

Yeah, but he's gone! The account that instigated this thread (as well as his first post) is no longer on the server, so far as I can see, that is.

Am I wrong?

Edit to add: hold on! I see the first post again. What happened there! It was defo invisible to me when I made my first reply :?

He edited his post which is why it wasn't visible to you. I just approved it

@MartinHale42

It seems a owe you an apology; I thought that you'd buggered off and taken your first post with you: mea culpa.

It's not such a busy place this, so maybe some 'new blood' is just what is needed; I hope you become a regular contributor.
