Is there a UK legal SSB call frequency ?
Hello all,
I'm considering after many years ditching VHF/UHF ham radio to go to UK legal SSB CB on mid/FCC block , Before I go buy any equipment i would like to monitor the band on my Receiver and see if there is any activity . I am in Shropshire Bordering Worcester and the Black Country, many thanks all

Don't know about a dedicated UK frequency but the yanks use 27.385 LSB. And as richie pointed out 27.555 USB is the international calling frequency . Although that's not legal

Good luck with the noise floor level then, hope it's not that bad where you are.KILLERPARSNIP wrote: 21 May 2026, 10:43 Hello all,

What you need is a Zetagi b300P amp and an echo mic cranked right up with 400 roger beeps then start whisting and shouting "hola" down the mic. Well thats what the morons around this way do anyway

I've got 10 meters for that ! I'm not really interested in DX ( I've worked the world on 10 meters) and would rather talk to UK stations !

Re: Is there a UK legal SSB call frequency ?
The 19 sounds like that with some added music, people making making silly noises and arguing with each other ! The other day I was listening to two people having an argument with someone else about talking on the 19 as they were struggling to hear each other whilst they were talking on the 19 ! What is it with sitting on the 19 ?NightProwler wrote: 21 May 2026, 20:21 What you need is a Zetagi b300P amp and an echo mic cranked right up with 400 roger beeps then start whisting and shouting "hola" down the mic. It often sounds like the super bowl channel, But I sort of enjoy listening to the Kaos ! As you pointed out get a 300 watt amp turn the deviation on the radio up so it covers 3 channels an added echo to distort the audio further add a 3 or 4 grand HF transceiver and then sit on 27.78125 taking to someone across the estate. I really recon some of the out of band transmissions are probably higher than the legal 4 watts !

Nothing official so to speak, a few locals will use the 'usual' to them freq/chan, Im in SE England and everything you mentioned is quiet .... but then it only takes a couple to pick the mic up and it all comes aliveKILLERPARSNIP wrote: 21 May 2026, 10:43 Hello all,
