Collectors of CB related items other than radios ?

Post by KILLERPARSNIP »

Hello all,

Just wondered if we have any collectors of CB related items other than the actual radios ? What do you collect and why ?

Swr meters, some antennas and magazines are a part of the collection. Many of the magazines can be found on the web so there value isn't as strong as it used to be.
Dose coax and power leads count?

I have not purposely collected CB gear it has just slowly happened over the years started when I bought my first CB a President back in 1979 followed by a 120ch ham international multimode they are in my loft however without going into all the names/makes there must be at least 20 plus in the loft as I don't normally get rid of the things. Oh, yes I did sell a perfect Ham Jumbo about 5 years ago to a good friend for £75. I bought my last CB around a couple of years ago for around £150 . Those last couple of years on AM CB were some of the best years I had, Meeting and making great friend ALAS most of them have now gone to the great CB in the Sky.
If the problen cant be sorted with a "LUMP-HAMMER" then its most likely to be an Electrical fault

I must admit the AM days were fantastic ! As a kid it seemed like a mysterious world full of people with wonderful names ( |Handles). It came alive after the TV's went down adding to the affect. I miss the hetrodyne affect you used to get all the time from the weaker/ more distant stations. In the early 80's It was easier to talk to an Italian in day light hours than your mate across your estate ! We should have some AM weekends were people could use those vintage sets. They to my eye were just so much prettier ! I can remember in the summer we would camp out the night set up my mates President Roy on a old car battery and talk the night away.
