PMR Numbers Station?

Post by scanhermit »

The title is very tongue-in-cheek. I'm sure our foes aren't reading secret code out on PMR446.

Close to Sainsbury's , Harrogate, I heard an automated female voice on ch1 reading out sequences of numbers terminated by a beep. The voice was using the airband convention of "niner" for 9.

Has anyone come upon this sort of thing before?

She also popped up on 14, spoiling a good evening this way for the Yorkshire PMR Group.

Hmmm...if it wasn't the wrong side of a big hill I'd suspect a certain someone in a certain area.

Actually, this person is high up enough to make the trip, if they are who I'm thinking of. 🤔
