Re: help needed for icom f510 repeater
There is the IDAT interface.
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ICOM-IDAT-BOARD-O ... _751wt_905
This does not go into the J4 connector but instead goes into the expansion board socket of most F series mobiles and in fact gives more functionality than the overpriced genuine swizz item.
The OPC-617 data interface lead is Icom's overpriced expansion lead but much more commonly found in use and on the second hand market is this item
At first glance, it may appear to be an OPC-617 but there are several distinct differences.
It's not made by Icom
It has a 15 pin flying lead as opposed to a 9 pin one
It plugs into J6 with a PCB mounted connector rather than directly into J4
It has a relay on it

The IDAT interface provides a +12V supply to the data head. However, there appears to be no native 12V supply from J6 (I assume for the meantime that P18 Vcc is 8V). The interface takes in power from the radio via a five pin 0.1" array. The supply is then switched via the relay so that the data head is only supplied when the radio is powered up. The large flat buff colour component is in fact a fuse which exists between the header and the relay.
Underneath this is an unoccupied header location which takes power in pins before going on to the fuse. Two pins are for +V, two for 0V and interestingly the fifth is for RSSI. This again is not supported on J6 but does have a marked location on the main board of the radio.

Connections to the external D15 socket
The external D15 high density socket connects as follows. Direction is as with respect to the radio.
D15 Header Wire Colour J6 Pin Function Direction Note
1 7 & 8 YEL,GRN Power out OUT
2 2 BRN PTT OUT OUT
3 11 GRA SIG OUT OUT

Re: help needed for icom f510 repeater
Resurrecting this thread as I just found it also with Googles help.
One of the problems with using this board is the Audio in is effected by pre-emphasis which makes digital mods rather distorted.
I found this mod and although its for the ICF-1010 the basic principle is the same.
https://pd5dj.nl/modification-icom-ic-f ... operation/
Im about to do this mod instead of using my Idat pcbboard.

kind of apt considering it is easter.
May the Resurrections continue to reveal great info on TM1
