Cobra 148gtl DX mk2

Post by tony2803 »

I have got a nice cobra 148gtl DX MK2 I cannot get the signal meter to work on usb/lsb
Am/FM signal meter works fine but no ssb signal meter reading can be obtained.
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem. Thanks in advance.
Also I have a Albrecht AE497W I need to increase the ssb power slightly as it down, does anyone know which VR you need to adjust to increase ssb power of some has a pic would be great.

RE: The 148 . I presume you can RX signals on SSB ? Could be that the radio needs realigned . I'd do that first . Any inductors that are off will instantly drop the SSB signal meter . If all that has been done then VR2 is the S meter adjustment for SSB .

Thanks for the reply, yes I can receive ssb signals as normal good strong audio.
I will check frequency realignment and go from there.

Hello

For Albrecht AE497

http://malzev.tripod.com/cbrn/ae497.htm

RF Power modification
Remove J71. Solder a wire width 1kohm resistor from top of J71 to J3. Then re-adjust SSB Power output to 15 Watt.
Replace RV4 width 4,7kohm adjustable resistor to get external adjustment of output power for FM and AM
