Ok all the repeater is up and running!!!! currently from my home (320 feet above sea level) but will be going up on the hill permanent (900 feet above sea level )hopefully at the weekend!! The location of the repeater on google maps is within in the DT10 postcode. the exact location will not be advertised due to it being away from any residential area
Your are all very welcome to use it but please dont abuse it!! i can turn it on and off remotely and if its abused i will switch it off!! But im sure that wont be necessary so it will be on 24/7.
the repeater is run on a battery and is charged by solar only so i hope the solar panel can keep up!! The repeater can record and retransmit a maximum of 180 seconds (3 mins) and what ever you transmit in then it well transmit out!!
Ok all important details-
the repeater is on ch7 (446.08125) and sub channel 37 (241.
This sounds great it's a shame I live too far away (other side of the country!) to access it I think we should all try our best as members on this PMR446 forum to set up simplex repeaters and gateways in our area. It would make the radio community much more lively and attract more users.
I've been toying with the idea of running one of these on 446 or maybe going down the LPD433 route, I've put the word out at my local club just to see if anyone has any objections so I'm just awaiting some feedback then hopefully good to go, unlike anything round here they's nothing of this nature including simplex gateways so I'm thinking it may do quite well from them scratchy QSO's with the help of a parrot box. Folk are quickly shot down up here in west yorks & folk seem to think they no more than others but we'll see. I'm pretty much good to go so it's just a case of awaiting some feedback & seeing where's best to put it into operation wether it 446 or LPD433

I used the "call" feature on my MT5050 but didn't get any response from the repeater....even 4W didn't do the trick

446 would be better lpd is in the ham band!
Of which both is license free, 70cm on the ham band is as dead as a doh doh so who knows it may attract some activity onto the LPD433 / 70cm ham side, another thing as well & its common fact that folk up here especially licensed ham operators don't like the 446mhz as its a naughty band of which we all know it's not & they'll quickly have a pop at you at even mentioning the word 446, they heads are up they own arses up here & think that they know better than anyone else & 446 ain't one of them baring in mind if they ain't playing on 2mtrs or elsewhere guaranteed they'll be playing on the CB of which case they'll deny it, Might set one up on both & the one that attracts the most activity is the one to leave switched on!! Might even have a few complaints but what the hell LPD433 is license free & of course certain requirements are permitted,Low power being one of them, who knows I may well could be causing trouble for myself here setting something up on LPD433 or shooting myself in the foot but it will be interesting either way to just find out what comes of an LPD433 working parrot box

You are mate... big time!
Seriously, if you are planning to set up an illegal repeater or run illegal power on a license free band, stay as far away from any amateur allocation as you can get.
If there is anyone out there with the time and inclination to notice what you are up to, track you down and stick you in to "Cyndi", it is a retired ham with a pungent aroma and a sour outlook on life.
I concur with kr0ne, don't rattle the tigers cage mate, stick with 446. Remember that we are secondary users of the 70cm band behind the MOD, LPD433 would probably be classed as third users. So be careful who you **** off, the local beardy-weirdy is one animal, the government is another matter entirely.

Thanks for the comments guys must say tho you've tempted me a little more with the setup of one on the LPD433 side of things. It carn't be an illegal surely as it would meet LPD requirements for Low power etc..... & the fact that its license free the hams carn't do s**t apart from the usual winging & moaning that they know best when really they don't know nothing (hi) a quick google search explains all & I suppose a rattle of the tigers cage from time to time ain't a bad thing just to test our boundaries
(I'll keep you posted on the plums as they required for baby making) & the YL would go nuts should I be belted in them, he he he on chance I proceed with a LPD setup & hunted down be O.A.P's.
