some time ago i mentioned i was getting noise on 2mtrs at different frequencies..i've now identified the problem after removing cables from the wifes
tv..scart no problem..aerial no problem..hdmi lead from humax box is the problem..so i put ferrite rings etc on this to no avail..so is there a hdmi lead
that can cut this noise out or is it a wouxon problem.
Yup, I'd go along with this. Indeed, whilst some of the higher end cables are definitely snake oil, paying £10 for an HDMI cable isn't unreasonable especially when you have probably spent over £500 min on your AV setup.
Real AV enthusiasts have a rule of thumb which says that you should spend 10% of your total on cables.....
Being in the trade so to speak. What you must remember about the HDMI gold end cables..Lots of people say how good they are and up to a point I would agree,But bear this in mind....These gold ended hdmi cable go into a normal metal socket on the TV set which is NOT gold plated,, So whats the advantage ? If the tv hdmi socket was gold plated then yes, You would have a good connection,But surely there cant be any advantage of a gold plated cable fitting into a normal steel socket ????? JUST a Thought
If the problen cant be sorted with a "LUMP-HAMMER" then its most likely to be an Electrical fault
The one someone mentioned above looks good enough. Generally, the thicker the cable, the more likely it is to have decent shielding.
I'd say a tenner will get you something worthwhile. Do NOT go to Currys or similar - they charge £10 for the same cables you can pick up in poundland (for instance) - Belkin branded.
In fact, for a quid, you might want to try one of those out (not their poundland branded ones, but the proper Belkin ones they have been selling recently)
Allan; To add to that (and I've been involved in a good few discussions about this), HDMI is 1s and 0s. It's not analogue so providing the connection is good, gold plating is a bit snake-oilish too.
One of the funniest things I ever read about was a gold plated optical cable - until someone gave one to me. Now that is ridiculous!
right that is wanted to hear, i was looking at a belkin one. but some say they are triple shielded, this what I should look for right.thanks for the input.

Sorry to edit you down STU, but these words deserve to be emphasized...
A pox on all those sellers/scammers out there who perpetuate this BS!
I too have seen the gold plated optical cables and I've even been known to ask eBay sellers for explanations while bored and a little drunk. The varied explanations are a goldmine of the ridiculous.
Ive been getting interference on 2m on my mobile set, after a lot of trial and error I found it to be my DAB headunit,
did you remove the HDMI cable all together? or just unplug it from the Humax and leave it in the TV? if you haven't already tried it try having it just plugged into the TV, or just plugged into the Humax and not the TV etc..
