PA Question..

Post by GBHgpJON »

A mates just fitted a PA to his set up.....but all he's getting is feedback.......
One thing I thought of was, his PA horn is too near his rig?? Its all bolted in, so rather than move it...I thought I'd ask on here first!!!
Any ideas?? :D

Yes indeed. As PA horns are so loud, it's VERY easy to get feedback. Your only options are to move the speaker or ruduce the volume. Hope this helps.

Firstly. make sure the cable from radio to PA horn isn't resonant at 27MHz as this will increase RF pickup. Secondly, try feeding the PA horn with RG 58 as the screening will help.

Heh
I did think about fitting a PA horn under the bonnet of my old car.

The trouble is....
It could become a bit too handy for telling the car in front exactly what you are going to do to him at the next set of lights.

Crikey... what car do you have ??? I looked under the bonnet of my car (Citroen 5 V6) and there isn't enough room to fit a wire let alone a P.A. horn !!! Last car that I had where you could fit a P.A. horn was a Ford Mk 1 cortina !!!

There's yer problem, a bloody great V6 engine :-)
I did have an old crappy fiesta with engough space behind the radiator to fit a small PA horn to a bit of the radiator mounting bracket.

Anyway, sorry Bob I disagree...
Old school CB'ing is mounting the PA horn on the roof bar of your 4x4 next to the extra fog lights :D

I had a PA fitted to a 97 eascort and 95 Vectra both were behind the front lower spoiler and worked a mint.
megga loud and very funny when you plug it into a walkie talkie and stand a few yards away and talk to passing people in town centre with another walkie talkie LoL
