evenin crusty / SS.

Good parial decode from Taipei, SS, I havent even heard Kyodo when Ive tried it recently.

Tuned to Russia again today on 6 and caught the 2nd picture, and very pleased with it......very good sifnal and no QRM, so I thought Id post it.
ALso, Mscan Meteo's easy to adjust allowed for a nice straigt picture.

I dont suppose you heard anything elso on Murmansk crusty??, ( I had to dissapear at 14.30 )

I also want to get a clear and straight picture from that erratic 14.45 slot, and to see if they T'x anything else at other times.

Hi bmw :) ......nice to have someone accross the pond decoding these as well.

Have a go at decoding our UK station bmw, on 2616, 4610, 8040 and 11086, pumping out 10 Kw, churns out charts all day on at least 2 of the above channels, youll get a few clean decodes sooner or later.

Also try Pinnenberg on 13882, 7880 and 3855, knocking out 20kW,

It can be quite a challenge getting decent pictures from far afield, I took me about 27 attemps before I managed 2 clean Boston decodes, due to prop conditions etc...........
The Russian one if a favourite of mine just now due to its weird 'schedule' etc.......

Hi MC. No 14:45 Murmansk transmission today on either frequency, might try Sunday on the off-chance. Persian gulf (6832.1 usb) and Boston (6338.6 usb) are strong as I type (some QRM).

Here's what Northwood, UK, 4610, at 2112 UTC looks like from a basement antenna in Michigan:

"]Hi everybody, I'm new to the forums. I'm new to shortwave fax listening and up until just a few days ago I didn't even know there was such a thing as a fax transmitted via shortwave.

Anyways, figured I'd share a few images scanned here on the other side of the Atlantic in Michigan (US). The first is my first ever decoded fax, its a weather image from Boston just a few days ago. Then earlier today I pulled in a satellite image of the Pacific from California. The first image I rotated 270 degrees so that its horizontal instead of vertical.

I'm decoding using a Panasonic RF-4900 shortwave radio hooked up to my computer and using MULTIPSK to decode. My antenna is an 8-foot slinky junior antenna, it is about 3 feet above ground in my basement
Hi there BMW,
Nice to see things from the otherside maybe you could try and receive some of our local fax transmissions?
regards

Left running on Charleville (13918.1 usb) this morning, propagation wasn't as good as I'd hoped.

Still a good decode crusty.

Ive noticed conditions not quite as good recently, and USA / Persian not as good on 6 the past few nights.
Russia on 6 was weaker today and there was no Tx on the 14.45 slot.

My next challenge will be for me to decode a good / clear straight14.45 Iceberg chart thingy, and then try and discover if Murmansk is tx'ing any thing else at any other times.
The Murmansk one is one of my favourite stations just now.
Will try other stations as well, but Im hoping to wait for better conditions / longer daylight hours to come round for these higher frequencies.

The middle noise bar on this decode was when the transmitter went a bit weird and tx'ed a load of guff for some reason.
Very much liking this Mscan meteo program...much better configuration.

Hi SS

Good try on the Californian one, thats a station Ive heard nothing from in the afternoons / evenings etc.......

Not much for me to report today apart decent picture recieved from Russia again , and there was no unusual ice-chart thingy boradcast at 14.45, so It looks like that it is only tx'ed on Monday and Thursday, as far as I can tell .
I really want to get a clean decode of that to add to my collection.

Persian Gulf was not too bad last night at 20.00 on 6, A decent picture recieved.

I tried at 12.00 today , Australia on 13920, this was very weak at this time and no decode possible.
However the other Australian station that Tx'es on 15615 was a very audible signal, with very low noise but still a pretty weak signal.
It should have given a noisy decode.

I didnt have time to set up and try 15615 as I was going to have to feed my face, ( lunchtime)
When I got back at 12.45 there was a very strong broadcast AM signal right on top of it  , so this might be worth trying before 12.30.

Boston was coming in crystal clear early this afternoon, recorded this partial decode between 2 faxes:

Image

Also managed to pick up what I believe to be Honolulu, Hawaii on 16,135 khz at approx 1:50 PM EDT. Signal was really weak but I managed a partial decode, making this my farthest catch yet at approx. 7000 km (a surprising catch at that high of a frequency) :

Hey :D nice catch BMW, conditions not great but still plenty of stations around to keep you busy, you seem to be getting murmansk sked sussed MC i noticed while searching the thread that crusty had got some post's from Murmansk at about 20:00 in the late summer wonder if this slot is still broadcast????. Had a listen round yesterday morning caught California again on 8 megs and Taiwan on 13.

Taipei Taiwan on 13898.1 sig-5 at about 0930 9687 Km

Tokyo very good this morning 0830 sig 6 nothing much else happening. Struggling a little with SeaTTY on weak signals it seems to lose sync very easily, only to recycle image on what would have been a average decode. i have found mixw2 to be much better on weak signals but unfortunatly mix as no option to save image's, i seem to remember that there is a work around for this but cannot remember how this is done also done a quick web search with no result, was wondering if anybody could point me in the right direction. was going to try mscan meteo but was shocked at the price of this package

Hi SS ,good decode again.

Murmansk yesterday transmitted the interesting ice chart thing at 14.45, but this damn computer crashed halfway through the signal and only got half a decode.
I think the sked is 14.45 on Monday and Friday ( I think) Monday is defo.........

Australia on 15615 was there also yesterday at 12.00 but weak. Today it was getting obliterateed by a broadcast station.

Didnt get a chance to decode Russia today as I had to go wandering around the shops.... oiut in -10 'C conditions.......

Hey :D thanks for info MC i owe you one ;) , just about exhausted my listening time slot looking for another now, got a few days free so gunna give radio some stick. All usual heard this morning Korea still flirting with me but still not got one worth posting after 5 week and prop not favourable now,GYA Persian Gulf been transmitting Atlantic/European charts all morning on 12-18 megs dont know if this is a cock up or if it is op requirments???
Been hearing what i think is Kodiak Alsaka on 12410.6 khz at about 1700 at very good signal strength sending RTTY i think this is a shared service like some of the Canadian stations so may concentrate on that for a while

Good luck with Kodiac SS, I managed 2 noisy grabs in the summer but not heard anything except RTTY from them since.
Some news on the elusive Bangkok station (note the recipient used a web based service in Hong Kong for the decode): http://mt-utility.blogspot.com/2010/12/ ... -dead.html
