Sunday Regulars... Wales - Pontypridd

Post by DJS169 »

Thought i'd post this here as i today spoke to some new people..

Every sunday after 12 midday theres about 3/4 of us chatting on channel 3 no tone for a good few hours..so anyone out on the hilltops or anything above average ground level keep an ear out..

I gotta lovley shocker today... listening to channel 1... an i could here kids.. thought i'd leave them to it.. changed to channel 8 gave my usual shout out... Call tone then... "Elloooo Anybody out there" to my amazement.. i gotta " ello NUN not wearing any knickers AKA sarah here" asked for a distance check an she told me Merthyr tydfil checked my map ( in my signature) 10miles... started talking to her she's a hobbyest just like us an will be listening out for requlars on sundays after 12midday ... but in the area of Glyncoch.. Ynysybwl...treharris & trelouis & sarah in Merthyr so keep your ears out for us if your anywhere between merthyr & bristol.. ( because of the gap in the vally... you can see the bristol channel)

Hi guys,
Any of you reckon you can reach the Presselis?
I'm gonna be either up the mountains, or at my home (250m asl - north of Carmarthen) on Sunday afternoons.
I've got line of sight past the Gower towards Swansea bay.

You were perfectly readable today from Porth Dan, apart from the FM hiss in the background. Very suprising considering the valley hills between us. Forget repeaters butt, just get an aerial up, that'll make all the difference. And I'm sure John will soon be full scale on the meter with you when he gets his up too!

Will be out on the hills round here on Sunday then.
Got a few radios to try with (Puxing PX777, Puxing PX2R, Intek 5050, Motorola t6222, various Binatones etc......)

Will take a decent antenna with me too
Hope to speak to some of you guys.

Hi all,

Called CQ on channels 3, 8 and 1 between 3.30pm and 5.30pm.

Was calling from the trig point an the highest peak of the Preseli mountains. (500 and a bit meters i think)
Had some kids call back, but channel 3 was taken over by some local farmers on their tractors!

Did well on CB 27/81 tho, chatted to several guys over Swansea way on my little Midland handheld.

Gonna get up there again soon with a wacking great aerial...
